Celebrate with Purpose

Ali is turning 19 on May 5th. Celebrate her birthday with purpose with a gift to OYE in her honor!

I'm Ali! For my nineteenth birthday, I am excited to ask for the gift of donations to OYE, a sustainable youth empowerment organization that supports young people in Honduras as they transform their lives, families, and communities. OYE—the Organization for Youth Empowerment—funds scholarships that help students graduate from high school and pursue higher education, while offering programs that develop young leaders and strengthen communities.
 
This March, I had the wonderful opportunity to spend a week volunteering and learning with OYE through American University’s Alternative Breaks Program.
 
OYE’s leaders introduced us to the beauty of Honduras, from the lively streets of El Progreso, to the picturesque landscapes of La Ceiba, to the welcoming communities of Cayos Cochinos. We learned about the challenges facing youth in Honduras and the inspiring ways OYE is addressing them. We also volunteered alongside the community, supporting youth leaders in painting a mural, distributing educational materials, and leading activities that promote a love for learning.

I traveled to Honduras to serve with OYE, but left feeling like I had gained way more than I could have possibly given. I cannot wait to return and continue working with OYE.
 
But, today, I invite you to celebrate my birthday with purpose. Please consider making a gift to support this amazing organization and their inspiring work with young leaders!
